Bright red dresses were never made for girls looking to blend in, and this is more than true for our new Electric Red Sadie dress. We are completely obsessed with this firey hue and the adorable fit and flare shape. During the long days of summer, the last thing we want to do is spend hours layering pieces to create a look. A one piece statement maker is a must have; however, you can feel free to layer on the bold shade in accessories like a poppy lip, or Julia’s bold red shades (love!) The countdown is on for the long 4th of July weekend (can you feel our excitement?!) Whether your plans consist of hitting the beach or a rooftop bbq, here are a few of our tips for a fun and relaxing celebration.
Drink Up: Beat the heat with a refreshing seasonal cocktail
- Strawberry Basil Lemonade: A classic combination that’s perfectly refreshing.
- Berryoska Revolution: Nobody wants to spend time at a barbecue mixing 10 ingredients. This one looks simple and delicious!
- Sangria Salute: Hosting is so much easier when the drinks are pre-made in a pitcher
Snack Time: Keep the fun going with a few indulgent treats
- Toast the 4th with classic outdoor Americana- capture the vibe with a fun s’more bar!
- Beat the heat with a batch of red, white, and blue popsicles (pre-made also work just fine 🙂
Dress to Impress: Whatever your plans include, we’re opting for red, white, blue, and light layering.
- An easy pull on dress can go all weekend day and night
- Beach cover up or bbq, everyone needs a broken in pair of cut-offs.
- Beat the evening chill, and mosquitos with a chic outer layer.
- Your own variation of this mani, because when else can you get away with it?!
Have a wonderful 4th of July, and we’ll see you back here Monday!
Today’s royal purple trend report is inspired by our favorite new frock Berry. While we love rich eggplant, plum and fancy sounding aubergine for fall, it’s this punchy true purple that we’re smitten with for summer. The regal shade is an instant attention grabber and pairs perfectly with the impeccably cut silhouette. We’ll pair it with natural accessories, maybe a python sandal for day, and add gold metallic accessories for evening. Another purple we’ll never tire of? Sweet lavender, whether it’s in a pretty floral, chic mani, or temporary hair tips- it’s the sweetest hue we love. Get more purple inspiration here…
Thanks to our hefty blog role of style blogs, and the parade outside of fashion week, pattern mixing, which used to seem overly eccentric, has become a must-try trend. While mixing your polka dots and stripes can be intimidating (we have stood in front of our mirror more than once thinking, really??) once you get the hang of it your wardrobe options will literally expand! Statement pieces that were reserved for jeans, can now easily be mixed into your day to day. Read on for your cheat sheet:
Stay within the family: For safety’s sake, stay within the same color family when mixing patterns. For examples, this Rene Jersey would be adorable with a grey and white seersucker blazer.
Play with scale: Two big prints can be a bit overwhelming, but a small repetitive print can easily be worked in as a neutral. This dress would be adorable with a railroad stripe denim jacket, which would still let the large scale floral stand out. Or this print with
Keep it simple: When mixing multiple prints in one outfit, keep your accessories simple. There is no need for an armful of bracelets and a statement necklace with two statement prints. Although we’ve never turned down a coordinating statement shade!
This week we asked our office to choose their favorite current piece from Ali Ro, and where they plan to wear it. Clearly our office has vacation and warm weekends on the brain! See our first installment of office favorites here.
Beach Bound: The official beach escape for New Yorkers, a weekend in the Hamptons is a summer ritual. Our Barossa dress is the perfect balance of preppy and sexy, our choice for a bonfire on the beach or brunch by the sand.
Cheers to You: Between wedding brunches, birthday parties, graduations, and just-for-the-fun-of-it get togethers, we have more than a few cocktail parties on our schedule. We love how the Celia has evening sparkle, with a loose fit so we can hit the appetizer tray for seconds.Food & Friends: The temptation to grab friends for an al fresco dinner in the city will never get old. This dress is our pick for a casual dinner with the girls and a bottle of prosecco.
Just when you thought you were about laced out, here comes a million new colorful, cute, and playfully chic takes on lace that you just have to have in your wardrobe. At least that’s how we feel! This isn’t the lace that we’ve seen all over the red carpet. This reinvention includes eyelet (probably our favorite summer fabric.ever) textured crochet, and floral patterned lace that looks totally fresh and interesting. We like pairing brights on brights (like that stylish lady sporting the giant bracelet) or wearing timeless monochromatic look. Either way, this is definitely a trend we’ll be visiting again and again this summer, starting with this flirty little number this weekend!
