Ali Ro Trends: Set Sail

We may not have a yacht docked outside (as much as we would love it!), but that hasn’t stopped us from reaching for summer’s nod toward nautical stripes. Navy and white or red and white are the classic combination blending prep school summer style with vintage seaside attire. However, thankfully this summer the style has been updated. 2012 has brought with it neon and neutral stripes, bold on bold blocks of stripes, and bright basics paired with classic stripes. Pair this easy striped dress with espadrilles and a wide brim hat for a chic boat side, or pool side, look that never fails.

The New Neutral: Simply Sexy

As much as we love to stand out in bright blocks of colors and funky prints, there is something equally statement making about a “new neutral.” The new neutral is anything but boring with details like sheer paneled straps, a draped front, and cinched waist. Try this simple and sexy look in light ivory against black or light tan in our exotic neutral print. Sometimes, less really is more.

My Life: The Sock Bun

The Ali Ro team is a stylish bunch of girls, but we’re also a busy group. To get up and out the door looking fabulous everyday, we’re constantly hunting for quick beauty tips and tricks. The one thing everyone in the office can’t stop buzzing about? The Sock Bun. Lauren launched our office trend using a large sock before graduating to the donut, and of course Amy just has such gorgeous long hair that she doesn’t need the extra poof of a hair donut! PS I Made This kindly instagramed her four step tutorial, how easy is that?

What is your go-to hair routine for getting out the door on time? (P.S This style is especially gorgeous with a strapless dress!)

My Life in NYC: Manhattanhenge

Tags

, ,

Oh how we love living in NYC, and events like last night’s, and tonight’s, sunset spectacle remind us why. Dubbed Manhattanhenge,  the setting sun will perfectly align with the city’s street grid lighting up both the north and south side of the street. Pros recommend heading east and looking towards New Jersey for the best view. So head to your balcony/fire escape to take in the evening glow and send us any photos you capture!

Ali Ro Out: Casual Chic via TropRouge

When the temperatures rise, we pretty much live in flirty dresses with skinny straps, ruffles, and maxi hemlines. However, some days…it’s just a lazy day. Maybe you’re traveling, maybe you’re running errands, or maybe you just don’t feel like “girling” up.  For these days, Christina nails casual, chic, cool style in our classic anorak. The look is edgy, cool, layered, and just so comfortable. Here’s to getting back in the swing of a new week!

Ali Ro Trends: Work it Out

As cute as your yoga clothes may be, we’re not ones for spending a day in spandex and sweatshirts. However, this summer has us feeling pretty sporty thanks to the “Game Day” trend. Touches of neon colors, athletic cuts, and sporty details are a fun contrast to feminine summer pieces clearly intended for brunch over the gym. Our bright colored classic anorak is a natural fit, as is the sporty racerback of the Ditch Plains tank dress. Accessorize with a waterproof watch and crossbody bag that can keep up with you.  For the bold, Krystal even took the trend all the way with an updated baseball cap.  Just save your sneakers for Saturday’s spin class.

My Life: Summer Concerts with Jack White

One of the most anticipated concert tours of the summer, Jack White, is stopping in New York tonight. While tickets for the Roseland ballroom concert are sold out, it was just announced that the concert will be live streamed on Sirius XM radio. Plus, a member of our team was lucky enough to score tickets, and we are crossing our fingers for a recap tomorrow.

As huge White Stripes fans, we can’t wait to hear Jack’s debut album, Blunderbuss, live. Plus, after this quirky interview, we can only imagine what he will come up with next.

My Weekend Plans: Food Festival

When Erin created the bright and colorful spring line with plenty of drawstring and drop waists, she may have been looking out for our plans this weekend.

While NYC has an endless supply of delicious restaurants to curb any craving, food festivals are a special warm weather addition. The Great GoogaMooga Festival starts this weekend and promises plenty of sweet and savory treats from fantastic restaurants across the five boroughs. With cheesecake bombs, veggie friendly pizza, and lobster rolls, a forgiving waist and plenty of napkins are highly encouraged. The Kiawah or Newport with wedges and oversized sunnies should work just fine.

Have a great weekend!
